When building a website, there are a few things to think of. First: You have less than 5 seconds to impress your visitor. If they don't like your site, they're going to leave it; and most likely never come back.
Second, when designing your site you need to consider the content. How are you laying out your content in relation to the rest of your site? Are you including relevant graphics? Are you using too many graphics to make your point? How concise is your content?
There are two different schools of thought on designing the content structure of the home page, your first impression. On one extreme, there is the belief that too much content on the homepage is a bad thing, that you want to keep it only to the most important content, and only summarize that linking to more information. On the other pole, there's the belief that your visitor should have access to all of the information without having to click any links.
Both are correct, just not all the time. When deciding what balance you want to have with the content on your home page, a few things to consider are who your target audience is (Young children, Teens, College students, Business administrators, etc.), and what you want to convey to them.
Here at DGD, we take all that into consideration, and then work with you to maximize your visitor's time on your site. After all, you're not invisible, you just need the right medium to make your service shine!
