Artificial intelligence and classroom technology
I believe technology should have a clear educational purpose, teacher oversight, and strong student-data safeguards.
The issue
Artificial intelligence tools can support learning, but they also raise questions about privacy, accuracy, academic integrity, and foundational skills.
Why it matters in Katy ISD
Approved tools and classroom expectations affect student work, teacher practice, data handling, and family confidence.
What the Board controls
The Board sets policy and funding priorities, asks about risk and educational value, and monitors implementation.
My approach
I would use technology when it improves learning; preserve physical reading, writing, and foundational skills; require clear safeguards and purpose.
What I would ask and measure
- Approved tools and data practices
- Teacher oversight and training
- Learning value and accessibility
- Academic-integrity outcomes
