Special education

I believe compliance is a floor. Families need timely evaluation, delivered services, qualified staff, and visible student progress.

The issue

Students with disabilities are entitled to appropriate evaluation, individualized services, and meaningful educational benefit.

Why it matters in Katy ISD

Staffing, timelines, documentation, family communication, and funding implementation directly affect students.

What the Board controls

The Board funds services, adopts policy, monitors compliance and outcomes, and holds the administration accountable without directing individual plans.

My approach

I would watch evaluation timelines, staffing, service delivery, family communication, and student-level progress, not paperwork alone.

What I would ask and measure

  • Evaluation and service timelines
  • Vacancies and caseloads
  • Services delivered as planned
  • Academic and functional progress
