Governance and superintendent accountability

I believe trustees should ask hard questions in public, decide from evidence, and provide stability after the vote.

The issue

Effective boards govern through goals, policy, budget, superintendent oversight, and public accountability, not day-to-day management.

Why it matters in Katy ISD

Clear roles reduce confusion and keep attention on measurable district results.

What the Board controls

The Board hires and evaluates the superintendent, adopts policy and budget, sets goals, and monitors performance.

My approach

I would challenge assumptions respectfully, request understandable evidence, disclose reasoning, and avoid micromanagement or personal agendas.

What I would ask and measure

  • Progress against adopted goals
  • Quality and clarity of board reporting
  • Implementation timelines and risk
  • Public understanding of decisions
