Transparency and year-round listening

I believe public engagement should be consistent, understandable, and connected to board-level decisions.

The issue

Families, employees, students, and taxpayers need accessible information and meaningful opportunities to be heard.

Why it matters in Katy ISD

Trust grows when people can understand decisions, see evidence, and know how input was considered.

What the Board controls

The Board sets meeting and communication practices, requests clear reporting, and models respectful public governance.

What’s already happening

Katy ISD is not starting from zero. Under the leadership of current Board President Lance Redmon, the district already offers meeting recap videos that he records, along with campus-level listening and engagement meetings. These are meaningful tools, and I want to build on that foundation rather than replace it, adding a consistent, year-round trustee presence on top of what already works.

My approach

I would maintain a consistent personal listening routine while respecting open-meeting law, staff roles, and the Board’s collective authority.

What I would ask and measure

  • Plain-language public reporting
  • Accessibility of records and meetings
  • Response and follow-through patterns
  • Participation across the district
